Earlier in the year it was announced that Hasbro would be taking over the Master Toy License for Power Rangers from Bandai. Since then there was a lot of speculation from fans of what this could mean for the future of Power Rangers.
Many fans speculated that Hasbro would be looking to buy the Power Rangers Franchise in the future, but no one could have expected it to happen only 3 months later. This morning it was announced that Saban sold Power Rangers (and other Saban properties) to Hasbro for $522 Million.
This is a huge deal. As of right now, Bandai still holds the
master license for Power Rangers, so we haven't seen what Hasbro has in store for Power Rangers, but we’re cautiously optimistic. Power Rangers is in good company with franchises
like Transformers and My Little Pony, but we’ll have to wait until 2019 when
the first wave of Hasbro Power Rangers Toys hit shelves and when Power Rangers
Beast Morphers debuts on Nickelodeon.
